Steele Lactation, LLC

Kim Steele, M.A., CCC-SLP, IBCLC
Hello! I'm Kim Steele, and I'm passionate about helping parents like you navigate the beautiful, yet sometimes challenging, journey of infant feeding. I specialize in offering empowered and comprehensive infant feeding support to help you achieve your unique goals. Whether you're a first-time parent or need a refresher, I'm here to assist with breastfeeding or bottle-feeding.
My own motherhood journey ignited this passion. My first breastfeeding experience in 2014, after an unplanned C-section, was difficult. I struggled with pain and positioning, and I truly understand the challenges many new families face. It was through the support of peers and IBCLCs that my son and I established a successful breastfeeding relationship.
In 2018, my husband and I experienced the devastating loss of our daughter through stillbirth. That experience was a turning point. I recognized the gaps in lactation support and was driven to make a difference. This led me to become a Stillbirthday Birth and Bereavement Doula and to pursue training to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). I've also been a Speech-Language Pathologist since 2008, which gives me a unique perspective on infant feeding. My 15 years of experience in understanding oral function and swallowing is invaluable in addressing feeding challenges. My dual expertise as an IBCLC and SLP allows me to provide a holistic approach, addressing both lactation and oral motor concerns. My personal experiences, combined with my professional training, create a compassionate and non-judgmental environment where you feel heard and supported.
I offer comprehensive services, including in home and virtual lactation consultations, pumping and bottle-feeding support, prenatal education, oral motor assessments, and personalized feeding plans. I'm here to provide you with the evidence-based information and resources you need to feel confident and successful in your infant feeding journey.
I completed my IBCLC internship at a busy private practice in Houston and earned my certification in 2022.
I'm a wife and mother to two rainbow babies, born in 2020 and 2022. I've also navigated the challenges of breastfeeding babies with tongue and lip ties, balancing pumping while working, and breastfeeding while pregnant. Therefore, I understand firsthand the complexities you may be facing.
I have a special interest in supporting breastfeeding with PCOS and rainbow babies, recognizing the unique needs of these families.
Beyond my professional life, I enjoy reading, gardening, listening to audiobooks and podcasts, and baking. I also homeschool my children, so I understand the juggling act of parenting and other responsibilities.
I'd love to help you feed your baby. I am able to accept some commercial insurance plans through The Lactation Network. Let's work together to create a positive and successful feeding experience.
